Use of satellite navigation technologies for aviation provides substantial benefits to both the service providers, as well as the individual and combined user communities.
SINTEF's main focus area in this domain is Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) development for low visibility operations (Category III). The scope of activities we are involved in range from system concept definition to investigations of the error sources (anomalous ionosphere and troposphere, signal deformation, multipath, signal jamming and spoofing, etc.) that can affect aircraft position as well as work on development of integrity monitoring algorithms at both the receiver and system level. The projects we are/have been involved in cover both the single frequency (GPS L1 based), and multi frequency, multi constellation (GPS L1/L5, Galileo E1/E5a) service types.
