The assessment results are documented in an independent safety assessment report containing recommendations, findings and conclusions. Assessment of the risk management process is required when a change of a system is concluded being significant (the concept 'significant change' may be defined by national rules; whether or not national rules exist is country dependent). The application of the Common Safety Method regulation is among others mandated through requirements from the technical specification for interoperability relating to the control-command and signalling subsystems (2012/88/EU including its amendments and (EU) 2016/919).
SINTEF is accredited according to NS EN ISO 17020 to perform Assessment Body Services as defined in the Common Safety Method regulations (EU) 402/2013 and (EU) 2015/1136. The accreditation of SINTEF has been performed by Norsk akkreditering.
SINTEF has performed Assessment Body services for the ERTMS Level 2 Control Command and Signalling trackside installations on Ådalsbanan and Botniabanan in Sweden.
